Spirit Orb Phenomena: Fact or Fiction?
By Anthony Kevan Sercombe

Publishers: BookSurge Publishing

ISBN 1-4196-0292-6

Book review by Paul Vassallo

Ghosts have always fascinated humans if only because they have offered the possibility of finding out more about life on the other side. Spirit Orbs, though are less known, Anthony Kevan Sercombe’s “Spirit Orb Phenomena: Fact or Fiction?” is a pioneering work in this field and has been rated 93% at Put simply, spirit orbs are images of humans which can be captured with camera. The writer takes the trouble of sharing how easily spirit orbs can be easily confused with reflected light on camera and other natural anomalies, however it made clear that spirit orbs images are definitely different to some tricks of the light.

The many illustrations (98 colour photographs) offer, at least interesting if not compelling evidence of this phenomena. Readers will be able to judge for themselves what spirits orbs actually are. The author himself found spirit orbs appeared more as he wrote the book and looking at the illustrations one is struck by sheer personality which comes through in certain images. Perhaps the most appealing fact about this phenomena is that all it takes is a digital camera for anyone to possibly capture such intriguing images.

Anthony Kevan Sercombe’s book offers a fascinating introduction and explanations to a little known topic. Not only that, but readers will find it also provides a doorway into the mysterious world of the spiritual afterlife.

October 2007:

A friend sent me the link to this conference (click on the graphic to go to the website). I couldn't attend, but just reading through the advertising materials and the list of people who would be speaking there made me feel wonderful! It confirmed my own beliefs ... I am not alone. Here is a quote from the conference materials: "The orbs and other new dimensional thoughts, feelings and manifestations are literally pouring in, taking many avenues that often defy linearity and rationalization. ... authentic orbs, not dust particles, which appear at loving occasions and impact full settings such as christenings, celebrations and gatherings." That's true ... the orbs do love a good party!!

The Veil is Lifting is the first full-length film (84 minutes) that brings together scientists, spiritual teachers, and experts to explore the orb phenomenon. We may be living in the midst of other dimensions our eyes alone cannot perceive. New technological advances are allowing us to confirm what many have believed—that there is more to our world than meets the eye. Orbs: The Veil is Lifting shows how modern digital photography allows us to observe what has been with us all along: a hidden world of light spheres known as Orbs.

What are these Orbs? What does the presence of Orbs mean, and how do we experience them for ourselves? Through the lenses of science, skepticism, and first-hand experience, Orbs opens the conversation by addressing questions about the possibilities of what exists in the unseen. Viewers are then invited to draw their own conclusions and to explore their own first-hand experiences.

Orbs shows viewers how to take successful Orb photographs with a simple digital camera, bringing this phenomenon to everyone. The veil between dimensions is thinning with our increase in consciousness. Orbs offers real proof about what has previously only been speculated.

The ORB Project

(Published November 2007)

By Klaus Heinmann and Miceal Ledwith

Description from

After literally stumbling into orbs appearing as bright as light bulbs in photographs he was taking at a spiritual retreat, Dr. Klaus Heinemann immediately sensed that he was onto something profound. There was no choice but to convince himself that his notion was on solid grounds. Heinemann looked at thousands of pictures he had taken earlier, and thousands more would be taken to test the hypothesis that these light circles are nothing less than emanations from Spirit beings.

Dr. Míceál Ledwith had a similar experience after the orb phenomenon was first made known to him through the teachings of Ramtha. He began an intense and systematic study of orbs in all sort of situations, day and night, and in all sorts of atmospheric conditions, in order to discover all he could about their nature, the situations in which their presence could be most easily detected, and what implications they might have for our understanding of our own place in the cosmos. To date, he has amassed a collection of well over 100,000 images.

In The Orb Project, Ledwith and Heinemann present their fascinating discoveries, along with practical tips that amateur digital photographers can use to photograph orbs and properly distinguish them from "false" orbs that are really dust or water particles. They offer guidelines on deciphering the orbs' various patterns, features, and characteristics, based on their extensive research.

As Dr. Ledwith points out, once you develop a keen and sustained interest in photographing spirit entities, some quite interesting things begin to happen: the brain stops censoring these images, and you can begin to see with orbs with the naked eye -- in more color and detail than is visible to even a digital camera.

Ledwith and Heinemann also explore communication with orbs and what their existence means to our lives. The implications of a realization that we are "surrounded by a cloud of witnesses" are enormous and incredibly hopeful for the world at large.

July 2009: The number of books about spirit orbs has exploded in the past year or two ... I won't even try to list them all here. I suggest you go to and put orbs in a book search. At last count, I found at least a dozen orb-related books there.
